The Allegory of texas joe
(Post-Lucid demo)
Performed by Johnny Stranger
Written by Peter Anthony
The sun was his driver
Whipped him on with fire
Into the tumble weed graveyard
Into the desert pyre
There’s no escaping the expanse
The sweat rings his brow
A crown of thorns, a sick romance
There’s no way for him to go back
He can only stare ahead
at distant silhouettes of smoke stacks.
And he sees, he sees it.
And thus he knows.
He sees, he sees it.
Texas Joe.
He comes from such a different land
Where towers raise with walls of glass
Belching waste and coughing ash
He left with noble deeds in mind
Alas, he strode blinded with pride
to circling vultures with uranium eyes
And he sees, he sees it.
And thus he knows.
He sees, he sees it.
Texas Joe.
Thirst that chokes
He can’t just drink oil
Yeah, useless are his pistols
Against acrid dust clouds
And the sun’s steady sizzle
And you’re never gonna make it
Cause the desert will swallow you
And you’re never gonna make it
Cause the desert will swallow you
And you’re never gonna make it
Cause the desert will swallow you
And you’re never gonna make it
Cause the desert will swallow you
Thus the crusade of Texas Joe
He’s lived three thousand lives
but still continues to go
Didn’t go to the desert for a tan
He rode to victory
But soon became one with the sand
soon he became one with the sand
soon he became one with the sand
soon he became one with the sand
soon he became one with the sand
