DON’T TURN YOUR BACK, JACK

Performed by Johnny Stranger

Written by Peter Anthony

Don’t turn your back on today.

You might just remain that way.

25 years later and you’re still exactly the same.

Jack fell back into a five minute sleep.

Just get up to metropolitan beats.

CNN and his first cup of coffee.

Telephone rings and there’s a voice reciting…

Don’t turn your back on today.

You might just remain that way.

35 years later and you’re still exactly the same.

Jack does work and Jack does lunch.

Summer heat to Christmas crunch.

Jack goes home to relax all day,

while the clowns on TV say…

Don’t turn your back on today.

You might just remain that way.

45 years later and you’re still exactly the same.

Then one day, Jack finally had enough.

Set a torch to his lonely apartment.

Hopped a train to… where?  I just don’t know.

But I hear, it’s where it never grows cold.

And he will remain that way.

Never quite sure of the day.

Never a one to just stay.

He’ll never remain the same.

And I will stay here, snug for the rest of my life.

And I will stay here, snug for the rest of my life.

And I will stay here, snug for the rest of my life.

And I will stay…

On your way down, you come unfurled.

Pearls and girls.

Make your toes curl up.
