The Acrobat & the Philosopher

Performed by Johnny Stranger

Written by Peter Anthony

She’s a traveling acrobat.

A trapeze act.

The definition of demure.

Practical and business-like,

She works a second job at night:

An escorter.

You must pay the fee.

To connect with me.

Love affair this isn’t.

No, she’s strictly down to business.

But the man at the door

Is a philosopher.

Say whatever you feel,

And feel whatever you say.

It’s such a dirty rotten shame.

But if we’re ever gonna change,

We can’t just look the other way

Without love.

And since they are such opposites,

They quickly strike an argument up in her room.

He says, “How can you care so much for money,

When our neglected world is surely doomed?

You have such a gift,

But you waste it on this.”

She says, “It’s called reality.

You lack all practicality.

I do what I do cause it’s what I do.”

Say whatever you feel,

And feel whatever you say.

It’s such a dirty rotten shame.

But if we’re ever gonna change,

We can’t just look the other way.

A little taste of pain.

A reminder that we’re all the same.

But Darling will we ever change?

Darling, will we ever change?

Without love.

Love, yeah, and that’s all we got.

Love, yeah, and that’s all we got.

Love, yeah, and that’s all we got.

Love, yeah, and that’s all we got.

Wash your sins with me.

Change!
